Going viral
"I'm currently trending on Hacker News" is a sentence I never thought I would have occasion to use, but here I am, having my fifteen minutes of fame.
It's a hot lazy afternoon here in Europe, and I was idly glancing at the Bear analytics. My recent little rant about the airport user experience had somehow made it onto the discover page, and I was getting more views than usual. Only a handful of people normally see my ramblings, so each upvote counts for a lot. I won't deny it, seeing them trickle in feels good. It's about the level of attention that I'm comfortable with.
And then one of you lovely people submitted the link to Hacker News. I had just gone to the supermarket to get some ice cream, and when I came back the graph had gone all funny:
Do I wish it had been a different, better post? Yes. Do I wish I had expressed myself better? Also yes, but that's life.
It had been a joyful but exhausting trip, and I just wanted to blow off some steam and think about how we can improve society somewhat. Most days I like the airport, some days I don't. What can I say, I contain multitudes.
